I always enjoyed doing colored pencils. I remember my first set of colored pencils was....
KARAT watercolor pencils, I think my parents got them for me? Don’t quote me on that, but the writing in the tin box was in German and their was no english instructions. Needless to say I was horrible at them, I tried using them and the colored wouldn’t mix the way I wanted, I tried water and the color just went “blah”, yes, “blah"! The paper would ripple just trying to get the color to fade.
I gave up and went back to lead pencils, wasn’t until I was talking to someone he asked me about my pencils, and was like, let me see them and took his fingernail scrapped it long the color lead part. “Theirs your problem, these aren’t soft at all, no wonder you can’t do anything”? Funny I still have this tin box set to today. So I went and bought me a small set of prismacolor pencils. I was amazed in the difference. You could use the white to mix colors and later on the company came out with a blending noncolor pencil. I was glad to finally save up enough money to buy me a 150 color set. I payed around 180-200.00 at that time. But I was never able to buy the deluxe set of 300 pencils, was like 280.00, I don’t even know if you can get that set anymore?
Anyways it opened up a whole new door of creativity, I reached a new level! I was able to mix color.
Then I started experimenting with other supplies, chalk, charcoal, pencil, graphite, paint, and even ink. I enjoyed it. So here’s some inspiration that I enjoyed and want to do so much more! It takes time to create art and what do you draw, how do you choose your art? These art questions I face every time I start a drawing. Some I don’t even take out of my art book or show. Thats’s for a different to time write.
Thank you
