Art of Title

One thing about being a Artist you got to have good titles with your art. You can’t just call it number 18, It ’s not moving. It’s even more hard work to come up with a title then it is to complete the art work. So how much time and effort should we as artists spend trying to come up with good titles?
First a good title becomes the buyer’s pride and help the person understand the piece of art work. Even i don’t come up with good titles, so this is my homework to progress even my self.  Talking about this educates you and me.
  What makes a good Title?
This is where you start conflicting your ideas, I can tell you a whole story of why I did the art work. People want words that tell the story, not the story.
A word that provides insight into your inspiration, help tell the art story.
A good title will leave room for the viewer to establish his or hers meaning into your artwork.
 Memorable or catchy.
Original like always, but not too cheesy.
This is something I struggle with because titles can get more difficult over time.
Allot of time in art people will look into Mythology and poetry for help in the naming situation. That is a very good place to go. Or just a plain old dictionary that collects dust and a thesaurus.
Here’s a good link (go here)

Here’s some of my knowledge on title building and I got to learn some new things just writing this out.
Take care.

Ever since I was A little kid I would take on drawing pictures and doodling. I never thought I would be still at it today!  I’m trying this to see how this works. Not sure if I want to put a blog up on this page.  Random thoughts and stuff going through my head, life and things I like.
